Solar Panel Installation — Okanagan

Power Your Property With Solar

Professional solar panel installation for homes across Kelowna, West Kelowna, and the surrounding Okanagan. Ramble Construction handles your system layout, roof inspection, permits, installation, and final inspection for a streamlined transition to solar power.

Clean Energy At Home

Solar Installation Made Simple

Going solar involves more than attaching panels to a roof. The system needs to suit the property, work with the existing electrical service, meet permitting requirements, and be approved before it can connect to the grid.

Ramble Construction takes care of the details from the initial roof inspection and solar panel layout through installation and final inspection. The result is a professionally installed solar system designed around your property and energy needs.

BC Hydro’s current self-generation program allows eligible residential and commercial customers to generate electricity for their own use while receiving credits for excess electricity exported to the grid.

Quality Products, Reliable Performance

Premium Solar Technology

JA Solar Panels

Ramble Construction installs JA Solar photovoltaic panels for residential solar systems. JA Solar offers a wide range of high-efficiency modules designed for long-term energy generation, with selected modules carrying 25-year power performance warranties.

NEP Microinverters

Ramble systems use microinverters from Northern Electric Power (NEP). Unlike a traditional central inverter serving the entire solar array, microinverters convert the DC electricity generated by the panels into usable AC electricity at the array level. NEP manufactures a range of microinverters for residential solar applications.

Home Solar FAQ

Do solar panels work during an Okanagan winter?

Yes. Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight rather than heat, so they continue producing electricity during colder months. Overall annual production varies with daylight, weather, shading, roof orientation, and system design.

Do I need approval before installing solar panels?

A grid-connected solar system requires approval before it can be connected to BC Hydro’s distribution system. Ramble helps coordinate the project requirements and documentation throughout the installation process.

What happens to the extra electricity my solar panels produce?

Under BC Hydro’s current Self-Generation Service Rate, electricity generated by your solar system powers your property first. Excess generation exported to the grid currently earns a monetary credit of 10¢ per kWh.

How many solar panels will I need?

It depends on your annual electricity use, available roof area, panel capacity, roof orientation, shading, and your goals for the system. BC Hydro describes a typical B.C. residential installation as approximately 7 kW and 16 panels, but every property should be assessed individually.

What solar panels does Ramble Construction install?

Ramble Construction installs JA Solar panels paired with NEP microinverters. The exact equipment and system configuration are selected according to the requirements of each installation.

Does Ramble handle permits and inspections?

Yes. Ramble coordinates the roof inspection, system layout, permitting, installation, and final inspection required for your solar project.

Solar Rebates

Your project may qualify for BC Hydro incentives

BC Hydro currently offers rebates for qualifying solar and battery installations, but eligibility requirements apply and the program can change. Systems must receive pre-approval before equipment is purchased to qualify, and rebate-eligible installations must meet BC Hydro’s equipment, installation, and contractor requirements.
